Gravesite Guide is an independent public archive of historic African American cemeteries and burial grounds in the United States, compiled from Wikidata, Wikipedia, and the National Register of Historic Places (see the About page for more on the project). This page explains how to reach whoever maintains the archive.

Email

You can write to the archive at contact@gravesiteguide.com (contact@gravesiteguide.com). We read messages and prioritise corrections to the catalog.

Corrections and Additions

If a cemetery record on this site is inaccurate, incomplete, or missing, please include as much of the following as you can:

  • The page URL of the record in question (for example, an address under /cemeteries/).
  • The specific field or detail you believe is wrong — name, location, founding date, National Register reference number, or similar.
  • The value you believe is correct.
  • A source for the correction where available — a published record, a local historical society, or a family or community account.

To propose a historic African American cemetery or burial ground that is not yet in the catalog, please send its name, its location, and, where possible, a source documenting it.

Takedown Requests

Descendant families, site stewards, or community members who would like a listing removed or amended may write to the address above describing the location in question and the requested change.
